Red = occupied

This is what kept me occupied today. I finally had to admit to myself that I didn't really have a clue on exactly what F-value would give what depth of field, so I spent the afternoon experimenting with this hibiscus as a subject. This photo comes from a set of about 80 nearly identical ones, and as you can tell, I still haven't quite got it... I had the aperature stopped down to f22 for this shot and I still don't have the whole flower in focus (further petal edges aren't crisp). Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree...

Pardon the blemishes on the flower.. it was the nicest one on the bush. Well the nicest one in the sun anyway, 'coz I was shooting handheld...

i think blemishes sometimes do add some kind of artistic effect to flower pics
i got myself confused learning this aperture thingie as well... dont worry u'r not alone

It's great to see you and Jas back again, I was on your side of the world (well Thailand anyway) in January. Sat 11-Feb-2006 05:38
