French Island!

This is where one catches the ferry to French Island

Alright here are the photos from French Island (well the few that I've selected to post, anyway! I don't have time to upload all 260 of 'em

Three days of discovering how unfit I've become after just 1/2 a year out of the military.... I once did some dumb exercise carrying about 40kg of useless stuff over 40km within 20hrs (Don't ask, I hate the people that made me do that!). On this trip, I was quite happy to finish 5km in 3 hours on the first day carrying just over half that weight, and I plonked off to sleep quite exhausted. Bah. I hope I'm not getting fat...

Besides exhaustion, Jas and I also had to fend off massive swarms of mosquitos and flies. I think the mosquitos on French Island are equipped with power drills or something like that. I got bitten straight through a tough pair of denim jeans!

The views and wildlife encounters more than made up for the suffering though... I'll let the pictures do the talking, 'coz I have to go wash the tent!

very wonderful and indeed worth all you went through to get them...i sort of like fat the best..the title..the p.o.v you got it from...with the belly so being wider than the head..its just cute. did you know jas before you left singapore or did you only meet her in australia Mon 8-Dec-2003 21:38

*re-post on 4th Dec*
Ok I actually did post this on time, but for some reason it seems to have disappeared. Anyway I'll try to remember what I wrote..

If I recall correctly, I went to the Caulfield Racecourse grounds with Jas to kill some time shooting photos while waiting for the train to the city. While we were poking around snapping flowers 'n rocks (the usual nonsense! ), I stumbled on this blackbird's nest with a lone chick in it. The chick sat there quietly and let me take a couple of photos of it (I hope it wasn't scared speechless!!). After that, Jas and I withdrew to a distance to watch... sure enough, about 5 mins later, Dad (I know because the females are brown) showed up with some chow!

Was at French Island with Jas from the 2nd to the 4th(today), hence another lapse in posts. Have lots of photos to share though! I'll post them tomorrow (5th nov).. there are 261 to look through and I'm way too tired to do that now. On top of that, it appears there was some dust on my camera's cmos sensor!! So all the shots I took with the F-value above 9 and that included some sky have some very obvious funny black spots on them... argh... I'll smudge away the really bad ones with photoshop, but argh I hate editing.. it's so troublesome!!

He is just precious. Great photos Fri 5-Dec-2003 19:30

The lone mushroom

I seriously need to reboot my brain. Just had a 5 hour meeting with the CCM public relations committee regarding our sponsorship drive for 2004. We hope to get 100 sponsors for our club within the next two weeks... *ulp*

Jas and I are looking forward to our camping trip to French Island on Tuesday.
I have to take the last 9 items for 26 things by tomorrow...
there's just too much to do!!!!!!

Yet another sunset

Had a look through my camp photos... most of them are disgustingly soft, 'coz I was trying to take handheld shots in low light.... argh I feel like a complete idiot after having gone around with my camera and taken hundreds of shots and having 70% of them come out worthless... However, there was one photo that I was quite pleased with, which has one of my friends in a rather... well... embarassing state of dress. Sorry, but for friendship's sake I can't post that on fotopages still, that photo might make it into one of the post camp collages!!

I know you guys see -billions- of sunsets here on fotopages, but there's always something different about each one isn't there? Anyway I really really like this one so bear with me ok?

Wow, beautiful sunset Chris! You can never have enough sunsets, the day that there are too many beautiful sunsets is the day you toss in the hat. Everytime you think you see one that's awesome theres another one waiting for you on another day only now you've shared it with the rest of the world. Tue 2-Dec-2003 18:42

I'm back and utterly exhausted!! Camp was brilliant, with some really good fellowship and bonding. Anyway I'm going to go make up for the lack of sleep right now. The 4 hour return drive has taken its toll. I'll see if there are any pics from the camp worth posting tomorrow

Went vegetable shopping with Prissie today. Prissie's heading back to Singapore tomorrow, and she wanted to buy a carton of mangos for the folks back home. I just needed some greens for dinner for Jas and myself.

Will be going on a church camp over the next 3 days, so have a great week all of you!

Spent most of the day playing tennis with Jasmine and Prissie. Well actually Jasmine and Prissie played tennis while I went nuts with the camera. Won't be uploading those pictures though.. wanted to upload this one instead. Took this outside the school gym in a garden patch just now on the way back from a meeting with one of my friends.

First day of rain in a fortnight!! Apparently there'll be some rain tomorrow too... ahh looks like we'll be getting a cosy sleep tonight!

Inner tube blew out while I was training yesterday... it popped a hole clean through my kevlar reinforced tyre.. bah.. there goes SGD$65. Spent 20 mins changing the tyre today... and I only got 4,000km out of it...

Great shots! Nice lighting on the last picture! Sat 22-Nov-2003 14:15

My girlfriend's housemate's cake

Testing the cake with a fork

Let me introduce someone I see everyday, who has frequently brought entertainment and colour into the lives of Jasmine and myself. Meet Prissie, my girlfriend's housemate. In spite of her name (prissie), she's actually a really pleasant person, who has "bash me" written all over her face everytime she walks into the room. As a result, she becomes the frequent target of light hearted verbal abuse from Jas and myself. Kudos Prissie, no one else could take it like you can!

Trivia of the day: Prissie is absolutely terrified of birds . All birds. Yes that includes sparrows, chicks etc... Hey, she thought the superb blue wren ( http://cdwwm.fotopages.com/?entry=13628 ) looked like freddie krueger....

Ahhh I can't find a nice shot for "culture" in 26 things... and I missed my chance to take something for "electric".

oh crap, that was me before this, not jas..
big boo boo..
